got an Apple Composite AV Cable today!!

today I bought an Apple Composite AV cable ($45) to view videos/movies in my 09 thru the AUX jacks. It also has a USB connect wired in.

It works great! Right now I have about 15 music videos on my iPod and I'm very pleased with the image quality on the monitor. Although I will mostly use this to play/watch music videos, I would obviously still like the ability to watch movies without having to stash a portable DVD player under my seat. However, I have never imported a DVD to iTunes. I understand the file needs to be ripped to MP4 but dont know what program to use Has anyone done this that can offer advice on which program to download & how to save movies to my iTunes library? Any help is greatly appreciated!

Woo hoo I'm just stoked to watch the few videos I have! Guess I'll have to do the "in-motion" mod pretty soon freakin LOVE this car more everyday!!!

No problem! I figured a few ppl would find this useful as far as charging goes, I checked if the charge symbol came on my iPod when plugged into the AUX and it didnt, not sure if thats because my iPod was already fully charged or not..I'll try again after my iPod has been drained a bit but if you already have the factory iPod connect in the car then its not a big deal to plug into that when you need to charge up.

really?! that sucks! I have an older iPod classic, didnt know till now that they changed the cable plugs in newer ones There must be one just like the factory iPod cable but for new iPods, I would think that any decent car audio place would have them no??

And thanks Sam for the links now lets see if I can figure this out! lol

Do you use the USB cable that came with your iPod to play your music? I have a '10 and I use the USB to play music of my iPod classic and it keeps it charged.

If it helps anyone here I buy lots of special type of apple cables from dealextreme.com ,I have so many different types of apple cable I always have what I need at all times. You cant touc hthe prices either. I also buy the short black cables so when my Ipod is in my console connected i dont have lots of extra wire bunched up in there to. There is also a composite cable with a 3.5 male and apple plug all in 1 on the site to.This will ensure you have all types of connectors for whta your needs are.It does take forever to get the stuff but the shipping is free.
I thought I would share with you guys.

You can add a USB Hub and have multiple sources running to the same USB input. ie- I use my iPad for both video as well as music. I run in AUX for the movies and run in iPod mode for music all under one source. Plus...If you do the NAV Bypass, you'll have best of both worlds.

You can get them from anywhere. I got a 8 plug and play USB Hub off of Amazon for $20. Just need to move the USB interface from the center console along with the composite cable input plugs and move them behind the glove box or somewhere near them so you can #1- save room in the glove box and #2- don't have wires going everywhere.

I've been struggling to get the interfaces working.

I could get the iPod and iPad connected but the sound was terrible. I think it was the cable (not an original apple).

So, I bought the genuine apple composite cable as is mentioned here.

The iPod works perfectly for playing music.

But....

If I connect the USB and the video / audio out at the same time, the video does not work....

If they are both connected, the iPod is disabled and the screen says Nissan.....

I don't see how I can play video and charge at the same time???

Also, unless I connect in the right order, the video doesnt work. I get a strange message on the iPod about connecting a video source. I think I need to connect the iPod before turning on the car?

I have to play with the sequence to fully get it right.

I was hoping that I could connect the USB and video / audio outputs at the same time, and just swith the Maxima to the proper input... Doesn't seem to like that.

Any ideas or advice is appreciated.

Its an brand new iPod classic.

Wait how do you do this? Just plug it Into the same place as the standard aux? If it's that simple then I'm buying one!

I bought this cable as well today. The problem I'm having is that when I play video from YouTube/Netflix all, the video plays, but there is no sound. I currently don't have any videos on my iPod, so I can't test them. Does anyone know how to fix this problem ??

I just wanted to know, with just this cable you can see what is on your ipod on the console only while in park? but to see the ipod while driving you have to override the vss? Is this correct?

thx!

I believe you need at least the monitor package, and I don't think that was available in 2009. Just check to see if you have the video inputs inside the center console. Also, if you have the orange monochrome screen, it obviously won't work

If you just want your a/v cable or the stock iPod cable to be able to charge the newer phones and iPods pick this little adapter up. It works like a charm.

But when placed inline it will charge the device, but then it will not play with the iPhone4 or control it on the 2009s. On apples site it is NOT listed as compatible with the iphone4.

Answering my own question....if you have the USB cable plugged into the USB port, ALONG with the video out cables, there will be no audio played. Once I unplugged the USB portion of the plug, I got audio. I also can't charge at the same time either now

Ok, so I bought this cable from ebay for like 13 bucks shipped , looks just like the apple ones. I have tried now for a long time to get the video to play. The audio part works perfect but the video does not come thru, and after 5 or 10 seconds it tells me "video will resume when car has stopped" and I am in Park!! anyone else have this problem or know what it can be? Can the fact that this is really not the original Apple cable be the problem?
by the way i am using a iphone 4

That doesn't count...you have to plug the phone into a monitor somewhere if you want to rule out the phone/cable.

FIX NO AUDIO

Using the apple video cable, if you have the usb plugged into the usb port on the car it will bypass the audio coming through the rca cables. You need to buy a lighter adapter with a usb port (711 for 5$) and plug the usb into THAT. This will charge and alow audio and video thru the aux input at the same time.

If you jailbreak and do the Nav/Video Bypass you can use TvOut to mirror the iphone onto the screen for apps that do not have compatability with video out however you must turn this feature off when using Netflix, Youtube, and other video apps.

Also if you're using a 4 or 4S you need to enable Video out in the settings app if you've never used an A/V cable before
