What intake did you buy

Have been doing some searching and looks like either the AFE Takeda or the R2C, who prefers which and why, and who sells them.

I'd like my car to breath better, right now in this Atlanta heat, it feels a little heat soaked, my 06 with an intake never felt out of breath

If you are looking for the R2C intake, contactEd Sroka (racing@r2cperformance.com) directly and I believe he can hook you up.

I think Im gonna call Cattman and order it, really like how it looks factory with an aftermarket touch, and from everything I have read it seems like a simple install

I'm sold on the R2C....Looks like great quality and I like the connection between the intake and cold air draft.

Thanks for posting the video Kmoney....it made my choice a little easier.

A short ram CAI like the R2C, Takeda, Stillen, AFe, etc won't help you out in that department. VQ's have been prone to heat soak for years. Only a LT intake setup will truly bring in "cooler" air if you're sitting in traffic most of the time. All the SR intakes for the 7th gen are just bringing in hot engine bay air at idle, even with a heat shield setup like the R2C has.

Only way to truly tell if the intake makes a difference in IAT's is to get a data scanner and hook it up to the OBD II port and see for yourself.

Here are my IAT's before and after the Stillen intake:

Stock Airbox
Ambient Temp: 50*
IAT @ Idle: 102*
IAT @ 50mph: 70*

Stillen
Ambient Temp: 50*
IAT @ Idle: 105*
IAT @ 50mph: 60*

As you can see, not too much of a difference. Major thing was at higher speeds, IAT's definitely dropped, especially on a cool, low humidity night. Now on a 102* day we had last week, my IAT's in traffic were 145*.

The way our engine bay is designed, is it even possible for a true CAI to be developed? The heat soak is crazy when its really hot out, the car feels like trying to walk a fat bulldog on a hot day.

IFuXwiTUz (sp?) built his own in another thread. Not a bad setup to be honest. He used the existing Stillen intake pipe for the MAF, Evap hose, etc. I'm just curious how the MAF is going to react. Early VHR37 LT setups were throwing codes (AAM is one example) because the intake piping and length was vastly different over stock. Interested to see if his custom LT setup will confuse the MAF over the next few weeks?

Yea That would be interesting to see. If he gets none of those codes it would be pretty damn cool. And the first true CAI on a 7 gen.
