Question A/C Controls Problem

I noticed that when I turn the AC mode to "Floor Only" that the air comes out the floor AND defroster vents up under the windshield. In fact, there appears to be ZERO difference in airflow between "Floor Only" and "Floor + Defrost".

I took my max in to the dealer and they looked it over and reported back that it's normal and that they verified this on another customers maxima.

Can anyone else here please check this and confirm this operation? I don't think it should be normal. When I request Floor Only then air should come from the floor only!

Thanks!

OK, did some testing on my '09. With the setting on floor only there is some air coming out the defroster vents however it is not nearly as much as when it is set on defroster only. The other settings, dash vents or floor + dash vents there is no air from the defroster vents. I placed a couple of sheets of printer paper over the defroster vents and judged the air flow by how much they moved in the various positions. Why, who knows? Maybe the floor vents do not have the air flow capacity for the blower and additional venting is needed to keep the air from being restricted.

We also have a '11 Murano and when the wife gets home I will do the same test with it.
