Morning Brake Pedal

Ok so this started happening several months back...but hasn't affected anything at all. After leaving the car for several hours the brake pedal would be like a rock. You know if you pump the brakes after the car is off until you can't really pump them anymore, well that's what happens after several hours of the car standing. As soon as I start the car all is fine. Any thoughts?

Mine did that after the dealer replaced the master cylinder. Never figured out why, because I had enough issues with the car, that I traded it in that way.

Maybe similar issue to this that the Altima has with the vacuum line...

It could just be because when you start the car the power brake system comes on, Power brakes are turned off when the car is turned off. I know what your talking about, and Im sure its normal.

I have a '09 and just recently noticed this. I have a 136k miles and never really noticed it before. I also recently had a tune up done at a Nissan dealership (at 135k). I will mention this when I go back in next week and see what they say.

This is exactly the way my car behaves, and exactly the reason why it behaves this way. I would be surprised if it behaved any other way.

I would understand if that's they way it always behaved. Keep in mind it only started doing not to long ago. Wouldn't it make sense for it to always do it from the start if that's the way it's supposed to be.

You are the one who knows your car best. If you are sure something has changed, I would think a visit to your dealer would
be in order. I tend to agree with you that, however the car does things, it should not change the way it is doing things unless
something has happened.

When it comes to brakes, we need to be absolutely sure.

The brake booster is operated by engine produced vacuum.
When the engine is off, there is no vacuum and the brake booster may bleed down over time. The result is the hard as a rock brake pedal.
