After one week with the 2012 Maxima SV Sport/Nav

After one week with the 2012 Maxima SV Sport/Nav here are my impressions as compared to my 2009 S which I traded in.
1. Power train is much smoother and Engine feels more powerful (the drone is gone)
2. Car no longer pulls to the right like the 09 did (dealer always said it was normal)
3. Ride is smooth (expected a harsh ride with the 19’s and tighter suspension)
4. Engine is a lot cooler after shut down (09 used to make clicking sounds from the heat)
5. The 09 cloth seats were more comfortable (after an hour in the leather I keep trying to find a comfortable seat position all most like my butt is bottoming out)
6. Bose Radio sounds muffled just not clean no matter how I adjust it XM, CD’s all sound the same, very disappointed (but im sure if I ask the dealer to check it he will say it’s normal)
7. So far the gas mileage has been a little better 28mpg but not pushing it yet.

Hmm. For a factory system, the Bose is actually pretty good. It certainly shouldn't sound muffled.

I was going to the say the same thing. I'm very impressed with the Bose system in this car. The sound is clear and the bass is deep. It's a nice setup.

I agree, when I test drove other SV's with the Bose it sounded great.
Usually when you put a CD in it sounds much better then XM, but even CD's sound BAD
What are the chances of the dealer replacing the unit on a 1 week old car?
Im guessing they will give the the same old story (IT"S NORMAL)

I love the BOSE sound system to me it's very good for a stock sound system... Also the leather seats in my SV I think are much better then those in the S a buddy of mine has an S an those seats are so uncomfortable they feel like I'm sitting on them rather than in them

So after 3 months with my 12' SV Premium, with all honest it is probably the best car i've ever owned. Seats are comfortable, Bose sounds great, dual sunroof is MONEY!!!!, getting around 26-27 MPG on my drive to/from work. Looking to get the Stillen lip, spoiler (regret not getting one when i bought it) and the roof wing. Heated and cooled seats are a sweet touch. Just my $.02.

The bose does impress me, but coming from aftermarket amplified componet speakers and 2 JL 12W1's the sound does not compare. Its a good factory setup tho. no complaints. I love my maxima.

i have to agree on the Bose comments, i am really just not all that impressed with it. i think Observer might be right, maybe it is a little muffled or just not punchy enough. Funny enough, on my 5.5 i replaced every single piece of the Bose system because of basically the same thing. This Nissan/Bose contract must be lucrative as **** for both parties!

most of my comparison though has been on XM audio, i havent really messed with it with CDs or the music box yet. its really one of the few areas im disappointed in, but its also very easily fixed (replaced).

Oh and sonomamax, really nice color with the Crimson. I was pacing back and forth trying to decide between white and crimson, its a sexy color!

Especially with XM, sounds no better then FM.

Did the dealership give you the old "It sounds OK to me" or did they replace it because they agreed there was a problem?
It just seems like there is no seperation no kick and XM sounds the same as FM.

Rear deck and back Door Speaker problem

2012 MAxima with Bose navigation

Rear Speakers have very little sound no treble

Tried adjusting with no luck.

Any suggestions?

My 2009 Bose is just great, would like better sound out of the 2012 that I just bought used.

Rule #1, make sure everything is to your satisfaction before driving a used car off the lot.

If you just bought the car take it back to the dealer and ask them to fix the problem. A lot of dealerships give some sort of short warranty like 30-90 days, then again not all problems are covered with these warranties.

The Bose is only a marginally good sound system on my 2012 Max.

I am in the process of bypassing it with a full on JL Audio Cleansweep, JL Audio amps and subwoofer system.
Focal speakers.

Trust me, the Bose is restricted by cost cutting. It is brand named only and the sound is woefully average.

The Bose system in our cars is decent for a factory system. With a little tuning, moving the fader towards the front & cutting the highs some, it sounds even better. I eventually switched it out as it can't really compare to a properly installed/tuned aftermarket setup.

Talking

Hmmmmmmm, I don't think the 28mpg is going to last, maybe you were going down hill with a tail wind? My average is 23. Highway trips at 25.5. The bose system IMO is mediocre at best.

For a premium factory sound system the Bose in our cars flat out BLOWS!!!

The alpine system in my Jeep, and the infinity systems that were in my previous pickups were far superior...
