30K DIY check list!

CVT drain n fill - Done
Power Steering drain n fill - Done
Brake Fuild Flush - Need Help
Coolant Flush - Need Help
Wiper Blades - Im screwed! Jk

Ive Done 3 out of the 5 maintaince tune ups on my car that the dealership recommended at 30k on my 12 maxima. Ive never tried to do this with any of my 4 maximas. I really love this car so when it comes to these tune ups I like having the mind set that it was done properly and not done by some tech that wants to hurry for his lunch break or something.

Anyways I would appreciate any help or tips on these following maintaince check ups.

Thank you!

Unless you drive your car HARD none of those services are necessary at 30K miles and 2 years old.

I traded in an Infiniti that was 15 years old with 160K, original plugs, wires, tranny and power steering fluid and one coolant flush at 70K because I had to change a lower radiator hose

+1 I recently flushed my CVT at 50k miles even though the dealer said it could wait til 100k. As for your brakes you could simply use a turkey baster to empty your brake reservoir then refill it. A flush is not necessary at 30k miles IMO.

Yeah all my other Maxima's I waited untill 60k, but I had a whining noise coming from the tranny so I did the drain and flush and its gone.

How would I know when my brake fluid goes bad? I cant really tell by hitting the brake and noticing that way.

Part of the reason to buy a Max is the cost and frequency of maint.

If you're going to follow the dealers premium service schedule may as well buy a 3 series Bimmer or Audi A4, cars that more/less require heavy maint.

When should we change the CVT oil on our car? I bought a certified pre owned a few months ago that's about to hit 50,000 miles and it hasn't been done yet base on the car fax.

Is this something I should be rushing to go? Or is the 60k mark a good time to do it?

You must have took ownership with about 45K miles, and if you know nothing about how hard those previous miles were, it would be a good idea to do a drain and fill only. Besides a little peace of mind goes a long way in light of all the CVT talk lately.

I bought mine with 45k miles on it and the CVT fluid had not been changed. I asked and they said it was good til 100k.

I looked at the fluid and I didn't like the color or smell of it. I changed mine at 50k miles and saved myself $150 dollars on what the dealer would have charged me.

My schedule is every 50k as I don't believe the manufacturers hype of 100k sparkplugs, 100k tranny fluid and non-serviceable rear differentials. But thats just me, you guys do what feels right for you and yours.

I did my CVT fluid around 45-50k and the 5 quarts I took out was pretty black - the stuff that goes back in is a pale yellow. The maintenance schedule recommends it to be inspected every 30k and be serviced if necessary; since nobody owns a CONSULT-III to do this themselves it's not the worst thing in the world to spend $100 on fluid and keep the trans fluid in the CVT fresh. Depending on how hard you drive can warrant how soon this actually is needed.

Do what makes you feel good, the best car I ever owned was an Infiniti I30T, besides never touching the tranny fluid when I traded the car in at 160K and it had the original plugs and wires and was getting as good of gas mileage on 87 octane as the day I bought it
