HID Kit Question
http://www.kbcarstuff.com/Volt-HID-Digital-HID-Kits-p/vdp-hid.htm
I have a 2013 Max S with halogens. I was looking at this kit but does not come with relay harnesses. Are the relays necessary? I like the price and the good reviews on this kit. $89 shipped after coupon .

relay kits are recommended but they may not be necessary. I ran a morimoto 35watt kit fine without a relay. Eventually i added a relay because there was some flickering. Turns out, it was a bad batch of ballasts and not because of the lack of relay. Received new batch of ballasts and the flickering is gone and i kept the relay kit because i was too lazy to remove it. In the future, when the relays die, i will just hook the lights up without the relay. I would go without a relay if you want the 35watt kit to save some money but any higher wattage, go with a relay.

the primary reason that people such as myself use relay harnesses for the HIDs installed in our cars, is that the bulbs need very high power draw for the ignition of the salts in the bulbs(in order to create the arc that create the light). That high power draw only occurs for a very short period, so there is no immediate damage to the wiring of the lighting system in the car. While it can be argued that newer cars have beefier wiring, and they can take the short hit, I would rather not risk it. The relay harness creates an isolated circuit where the power is drawn from the battery, directly into fused wiring. If any wires do get damaged, it is a relatively cheap fix.

Comes with everything you need. Select the XB35 option (additional $20) so that you don't have return wire shadow in your output.

Speaking of the XB35 bulb, can they be used as replacement low beam bulbs and are they compatible with the Nissan/Matsu****a ballasts?
I have heard conflicting statements regarding this and Retrofit source indicates they're not compatible?
Appears Osrams are compatible but sure are $pendy!!!

Osrams are worth the money though. I love my CBIs.

Thanks for the feedback.
Apparently TRS has tested these with all three gen Matsu ballasts and has posted this:
I'll go and call TRS Monday as their website still says they are "not for use".

Now for the next question since your into possible new bulbs for your lights....
So I can understand the obvious improvement of the XB35 bulbs over stock. But has anyone actually seen the added benefits of spending more money on the 2.5" Black series clears lens over the 7th OEM lenses?
My stock lens seem to be of fairly good quality already with nice color at the cutoffs.
Also, TRS lists "A stock" and "B stock" Should I assume the B stock is more along the lines of OEM quality?

Go with Maxlux for your HID kit man. When I converted my fogs to 5000K HIDs in September I went with Maxlux and I've not ran into a single problem since the setup. The good thing is that this kit comes with both a canceler and relay built into the Ballasts and it was only $67. It also comes with 3 years warranty. Can order it from Amazon or EBay directly from the Maxlux vender. Great quality and great deal IMO

A stock is their top of the line stuff. B stock can sometimes have imperfections/blemishes which is why they're cheaper. Honestly though, I bought some B stock MH1 6.0s from them for my fogs and I didn't find anything wrong with them.

[QUOTE=ChrisMan287;8916526]Clear projector lenses are great. They give a little more output with a crisper, cleaner and more colorful cutoff. I'd install those as well.
Do they usually require re-alignment after install? I see they also offer spacers, are they actually needed?

Yes, actually posted it in the other HID kit forum. It should still be recent as I just posted on it not too long ago

I just put my stock halogens back on. I had some aftermarket hid's and it the connections always got loose causing one side, or both sides to sometimes give out. I would always have to retighten everything. It became a hassle. I can't risk getting pulled over by cops for a fix it ticket.
adding a aftermarket hid kit will add like 3 more separate connection points and none if it looked like it was designed to stay connected without any problems. Flimsy cheap china made stuff.
even the brand name stuff u see are all the same stuff.

It's all about the QC.
That issue should only be attributed to the projectors but I'm not 100% sure. I have no personal experience in 7th gen fog applications but haven't seen anyone complain of shadows in their fog output.
