TSB's

So I took my 2010 Maxima to the dealership today for the 30k maintenance and told them about the TSB for the passenger seat vibration as my passenger seat vibrates like crazy. I was told since I am out of warranty and my Gold warranty will not cover it that I would be responsible for paying for the repair. Is this true?

I was under the impression that Nissan was responsible for taking care of the problem regardless of warranty status...

I expressed my concerns to my service advisor and she said she would take to the regional rep and see what she could do as I've kept up my maintenance, have the extended warranty (they like to see this according to her) and have low mileage.

If I were to pay it myself the parts are $1,600.00 alone, at least that's what she said ha!

What you have to remember is that service bulletins are not the same as recalls so these are not necessarily deemed serious problems (at least by Nissan) so they are not covered.

Try ordering the seat bracket and fixing yourself before dishing out $1,600. The part is like $20-30.

Ni$$an has no shame. If it's not profitable it's not getting done. Nissan's focus is not on the product and certainly not on the customer. It's on profit and market share. Very short sighted.

The service advisor called me today and told me she called her rep and explained it to him. He was asking what year, the mileage and my maintenance history and his cell went out. She said she just emailed him everything and I should know tomorrow. She seems like she legitimately cares and wants to help. I got tired of waiting while they were doing the 30k maintenance and she let me take the demo (2014 Altima) that she drives to work daily. So I guess we will see tomorrow.

Of course she wants to help, her dealership will make $$ on the repair.

Good Luck

Got an update from the dealership Friday. Nissan is going to cover the repair 100%! I can say that I am impressed with how hassle free that this has been and how quickly the dealership and Nissan came up with a decision.

Glad to hear they took care of you. Despite the opinion of others that have posted on this thread not everyone is out to F*ck everyone. What most people fail to realize that auto sales and service are businesses. I agree that things are not always fair but it works both ways. How often do people bring cars to the dealer that have never serviced at the dealer and have no records yet expect everything for free. As a owner and operator of a service center it is great to hear that someone not only did the right thing for you....but that you were kind enough to share it with others.
