Plastic black pipe that connects to bottom of intake hose
Hi All, dealing with some MAF issues. Engine runs fine one day then sketchy the next. Cleaned the MAF, then the CEL/SES went off for a bit but eventually came back. I just pulled off the Throttle body and cleaned that. My question is, I managed to pull out a black pipe that connects to the bottom of the intake. This pipe appears to go nowhere, is this pipe supposed to connect to anything besides the intake hose or is it just for collecting water or oil or anything that finds its way in there? If this doesn't make sense, I will post a pic. Thanks.

That would be your noise generator. It amplifies engine noise into the cabin. A lot of people on here have taken it off and plugged the hole in the intake with a 1 1/2 inch rubber quick cap from home depot. Doing this will quiet the cabin quite a bit. With or without it does nothing for performance of the car.
