HOT HOT HOT...engine

Hello good friends.

With th summer in full swing, one can expect engines to run a little hotter. Throw in a running ac,that might bump the temp up a little more. Something has been kinda bothering me and it’s happened twice already. I work overnights for westchester county. The other night left for work, did not use the ac because work isn’t far,80% of the ride is on the highway etc. I parked my car at 10:45pm. I went on break at 1:20 am. Got in my car, turned it on,and it was at full operating temperature. The needle barely dropped in over 2 hours. It was a warm night, but nothing crazy, definitely seen worse.

Then today, went to put gas in,came home. Car sat for 2 hours, get in and again, right from the start, full operating temp. Didn’t move.

Is this normal? I mean 2 hours of sitting and it doesn’t cool down...

Maybe your gauge is not correct, or are you physically checking the water temp? Is the radiator full and is the overflow at the correct level?

Mine does the same thing. I believe it's normal since it's a larger engine, it retains heat for a longer period of time. It retains heat longer than my SR20 that's for sure.

I have not noticed how mine behaves in hot weather. As long as it remains in the normal range when you take a longer drive and use your AC, it is probably fine. There is a good chance what you describe is normal.

These engines definitely do kick out some heat tho. It does remain at halfway level on the temp gauge. Was in the car today, was 91 degrees out. Had the ac pumping and the gauge never moved so seems to be ok.

No worries on that it's normal, with the hot weather and the sun baking on the car as well as the heat in the air the cars are able to warm up quickly after start up, I went to work yesterday which is a half hour drive from my house, I start work at 7 and by lunch time when I went to start the car the temp gauge was already elevated some and the car had been sitting for 4 hrs. It's the warm weather just aslong as you stay with in its normal operating range your good!
