Trunk Switch Not Working
Trunk Switch Not Working
Good afternoon,
I am having some trouble and was hoping anyone could help. My 2011 Nissan Maxima trunk switch has given out. I have tried replacing it with a new one, but no luck! The trunk open button on the key fob works and the trunk button by the steering wheel also works. So I am not sure where to go from here. Any would help be appreciated!

If it's not locking and staying shut, your lock is broken. You'll have to disassemble your trunk interior to find out why. Locks have a pawl spring so that when the striker pushes into the lever, the pawl flips over and holds it in place against a rubber stopper. If this spring popped off, it would just bounce right back out. I'd just go pick one up from a junk yard and replace it. There's absolutely nothing smart about these locks. It's just a little sensor and a release trigger and some springs. The most difficult part will probably be taking apart the interior.
