Hi All-

So today I was rear ended by a woman while waiting in a left turn lane for a light to go green. She saw the light go green for straight traffic, and thought that meant her too and stepped on it and bumped me.

To my surprise, when looking at the damage with her I couldn't find anything wrong (it was dark though). We still exchanged information and went on our way.

Well, I got home and unfortunately found a bit of damage after all.. A really thin crack about 7-8" long at the top of the rear bumper. Here's a photo:

My question is, should I report this to my insurance? Is there OEM rear bumpers available at Nissan dealerships that they'd replace this with to make it look brand new? I'm just not sure and curious what you guys would do? It just happened an hour ago so still plenty of time to call my insurance.

Also, would this raise MY premium?

Report it to your insurance company. They should get paid in full from her insurance company. You should insist on a new bumper. Your rates shouldn't be affected.

or you can call their insurance co directly and completely bypass your company, at least you can in CT. Whether or not your insurance goes up may depend if you state assigns fault or not.
