Has anyone done ceramic paint protection? I heard it's rather expensive, and can run as much as $1000 to have professionally done. But it supposedly lasts 5 years, keeps that's deep gloss, glass look, prevents chips, etc., so I'm strongly considering it. Second question, does anyone know of a place in upstate NY that does it? I've searched online but haven't found anything.

I've seen this product advertised from Auto Geek and sells for around $120.00 for the DIY kit. Reviews it got are pretty good. Might be worth while on a brand new car.

It's this..
http://www.autogeek.net/diamond-surface-coating.html
I have used it on my 2014 Corvette and 2016 Maxima. A tiny bit goes a long way. You should be able to coat 4-5 cars with a bottle.
As for lasting five years - I doubt it. I hope for a year of normal driving.
BUT (always a but...) You have to do a very good surface prep first.
I use a dual action random orbital polisher to take swirls out, the follow that with a good way. The ceramic top coat is exactly that - a TOP coat over wax. It does NOT replace the wax step.

I had the Nano Fusion film applied to my front bumper, 24" of hood, side mirrors and fenders and am extremely pleased with it. You can't even tell that it is there. Comes with a lifetime warranty as well. Wouldn't try to install myself, especially with all the nooks and crannies on the front bumper.

I am having opticoat pro plus put on my week old SV this week
I am hoping that it will be as good as the reviews are for it
7 year protection warranty but it's 1200.00 taxes included
Not something I would attempt to do myself, not known to wash my last car too often lol

I love it, granted I don't drive that much, but when I want to wash the car, I pull car into garage with a bucket of no rinse car wash and it's done head to toe within an hour. All I use is a wash mitt and microfiber towels to dry.
Car looks like it was when I drive off lot well actually better lol

I also had the opticoat applied to my SR (thrown in the deal) at the dealership. It does come with a 5 year warranty. they did the body, windshield, headlights and foglights. Water beads off the car even if it hasn't been washed for weeks. The paint feels like smooth glass when clean. I have not seen a swirl mark or scratch on the car as of yet (other owners have complained of weak paint and how easy is it to get swirl marks/scratches). Im very please with the result.

If I would have paid for the service it would have been about $900. I remember it was a multistep process that took them about half a day to do, I'm sure they had to prep the surface (clay bar etc) to get it ready for the opticoat (to be honest being that I didn't pay for it I didn't pay to much attention to the whole process)Originally Posted by MrDillons
What was the average cost of your opti coat pro application and did you have them do paint correction also?

Guy wanted 1500 and opti coat requires a base cost his was about 300 more. Talked him into doing it for 1200. Did paint correction but wasn't too bad considering the pearl white.
I live in Florida and the swarms of love bugs during times of the year was the biggest reason "I" wanted it. Ruined my charger cause I didn't get them off fast enough.
Used a touch up wash spray I made from no rinse and they wiped right off.
Well worth the price for me!

Let me state that I had the opti coat pro plus done to my car it comes with 7 year, has multi layers of coating
I think opti coat has a 5 year and the pro requires you to leave the car overnight, they want the sealant to cure and the pro plus adds a gloss shine to the car.

Thanks for the info fellas, I think I'm going to go with the pro on this super black, last car was a swirl monster, not trying to continue on that path.
I'm a sales rep for Simoniz and they have the Glasscoat that dealers sell for around $600. We have a new product coming out called Diamond Plate that is a very similar product that comes with a 2yr warranty and costs $100 for the kit. We should have the product for sale in a wk or so. I will apply it to my SR as soon as I get some in.
