Sport Mode Automatic On Start?

Might be a dumb question, but I recently purchased a SR and I drive in Sport Mode 90% of the time. Is there any way to have it in Sport Mode by default? Not a big deal to just press the button but just curious if anyone knows how to do this...

Thanks!

That just means it probably can't be done.

I know that on most other cars that have a sport mode, once the car is turned off, it automatically defaults back to normal. I would assume the maxima is the same way. Cars with these options always need to have a default mode set from the factory in the software and most all companies choose this default to be the standard mode.

Reason is that the car is rated for it's best MPG in the standard mode. Defaulting to Sport would penalize that rating

Out of curiosity, in what situations do you use the sports mode? I've liked it on all the 4-cyl sedans that I've tested, but the Maxima's engine feels so overpowered that I haven't found an opportunity to use sports in regular driving.

The sport/normal option does not need to have a default setting. Does the radio have a default station? Does the climate control have a default temperature. The car defaults to normal mode by design, not necessity.

Again, not difficult to press the button.. I am already in a habit of toggling it on as soon as I start the engine. Kinda like flying a jet, pressing a couple buttons before take off! Haha

Your analogies don't make sense. When you are driving and you listen to a specific radio station and set your climate control to a specific temperature, the car remembers these settings when you turn it off and back on. The original poster is just asking if the car can also remember if it was last set to sport mode and keep that setting. I wish that was an option.

Yeah, that's what I said. It doesn't need a default setting. Nissan designed it that way. There is no reason it couldn't remember the last setting if Nissan had wanted it to.

I agree no default is necessary, but it would have been nice if Nissan made the switch as a rocking toggle switch so it stays on whatever setting you pick. For people that drive in sport mode every day, it is silly to have to hit the sport button every time you start the car.

My point is that it doesn't need a rocker switch. The switches are fine the way that are. It could remember the setting when the car was turned off just like the radio remembers the mode, station, volume and all the other settings.

It does seem odd that the last setting isn't remembered. I had a 2013 Mercedes C250 coupe with the sport package before this Maxima SR and it was the same way. Every time I restarted the car it would return to "normal" mode.
