Remote Start question

I just bought a 2017 Platinum and it seems that if you turn off the car with the climate control on and then you remote-start it later (with the intelligent key), the climate control does not come back on, until you push the start button once you're in the car. I thought that one of the advantages of remote start was you could start the car from inside your house on a very cold or very hot day, and the car would be comfortable when you stepped inside!

Yeah I think its just the way Nissan decided to do it. The air must be off before shutting down the car I think? Then when you remote start the automatic climate control kicks in. At least those are my findings personally when trying it.

Mine always comes on with remote start whether hot or cold. I never take mine off auto though...
The heated steering wheel and rear defroster will also come on automatically with remote start when it's cold enough.

Make sure the setting is on AUTO when you shut off the car. Doesn't matter if the air was blowing or not at the time, though I've never seen the air completely off when set on AUTO. I believe the A/C light has to be on, too, if you want that air to be cold when the car remote starts. Even though while driving, the A/C light does not have to be on for cold air to come out, I have noticed that it does need to be on in order for the A/C to work during remote start. So basically, make sure AUTO and A/C lights are both on. You should be good to go!

The climate control will always activate when you use remote start. It works independently and either cools or heats the cars based on the ambient temp/ indoor temp. When you enter the car and press the brake pedal and touch the start/stop button then the system reverts to your prior setting.

This is the way I understood it to work as well. My SR automatically cools the car as I remote start it, then when I press the brake and push the button, it goes to previous setting too. It will cool or warm the car according to ambient temp.

Have you consulted your manual for an incorrect setting? Have you contact your service advisor?

yup mine is exactly this way too, always cools on remote start and when you actually get in and start the car it goes to whatever A/C settings were used when the car was last shut off

Sorry I'm a bit slow to understand. Does this mean even if of you did not remember to hit the AC button before leaving, it will still turn it on to cool the car anyway?

Now that we're finally getting some heat here in the Northeast, I was able to determine that the climate control is working with remote start. I left the car out in the street so it could bake in the sun. A few hours later I remote-started it, and the climate control came on full blast.

How did you resolve your issue? no matter what mode I leave my heat or AC on it wont turn on with remote start until I get in the car, push brake and ignition. that's when the unit actually turns on and starts blowing

I find the radio funny, sometimes its on when I get in and sometimes it isn't. It would make sense that it should never be on since nobody is there to hear it.

The system will not light up and indicate when you remote start until you press the brake and push the start button. However, it does use the ambient air temp to determine if it should be hot or cool until you enter. It won't blow hard, but it is working. In the winter you won't get warm air anyway until the car warms up.

It appears the system isn't working because your indicator isn't on.

Actually it works as advertised. Start the car remotely, and the climate control WILL go on. When you put your foot on the brake and press the start button, the system resets to what it was when you turned the car off.

Fact. With remote start, fan is on high until you enter the vehicle with your key and hit the brake.

Also, confirmed that you have to lock the doors with the remote, before holding the remote start button for a few seconds to engage.
