New Member/First Post Vinyl Roof Wrap

Hey guys, been lurking around the forum for the past few months since I purchased my 2017 SR Midnight Edition on July 4 of this year. I absolutely love the car so far. Ever since I got it I've wanted to do a gloss black roof wrap and some tints. I finally got the opportunity yesterday and I wanted to share some photos for anyone thinking about possibly doing the same.

No, I took it to a shop near where I live. The guy has been there for almost 20 years and has done the tints on every car I've owned. Uses 3M materials and gives a lifetime warranty on his work. This is the first experience I've had with the wrap. He did the wrap and tints for $400.

yea man everyone is suggesting I do the same. I like how it looks now. If you get the whole top done I'd love to see it! Maybe you can convince me.

thank looks great. i just got a gun metallic '17 SV on tuesday. I am taking it to get the roof & pillars wrapped tomorrow morning. I am contemplating doing the rest of the car in matte white. I really like the white with the black top and black spoiler...and some black 20s

Hey, kinda looks like my SL now, except the black contrasts better with the white than with my Coulis. Nice looking job.

Had the roof and sides wrapped a month after I got it. It’s definitely a looker in the streets!

The wrap looks really good on both cars, I have a '17 pearl white SR and have been looking for a shop here in Connecticut to do the roof- already did the windows- if anyone knows of a shop please let me know!

Very nice. Does look like an SL. I had some fly-by-night outfit wrap my SL top in black. Then to my horror I had to take it to my dealer complaining that I could not see out of my front moon-roof or skylight. The joke was on me 'cause all the dealer did was slide the front moonroof back to let the light in, although I must admit it gets a little damp inside when it is raining. Couldn't help myself. I crack myself up sometimes!

I'm looking to do something similar

As you can see I've done my hood in gloss 4d carbon fibre and I was looking to do the roof in gloss black. What do you think, gloss black or more carbon fibre? I have 20 percent tint all round if that helps with determining what would look better.

I did the 3M on the silver accents. Changes the look of the car. Yours looks great. Sometimes I wish I got white

I was thinking also to wrap mine. Suddenly my friend told me to visit Gatorwraps. They have professional installers that will help me. You should try also.

Very nice. Now it resembles the roof of the SL and Platinum models. Two reasons I did not get the SR was I wanted the black-out panoramic roof and I did not care for the harsh tires and suspension. Great car in every other way.

sigurdomega,

Sorry, my post did not come out the way I meant it. I read it a second time and I did sound like I was dissing your car. Did not mean to do that. You had a good idea and finished it up nicely. SRs are better in many ways than SLs (especially suspension and interior appointments), but I never considered that the dual moonroof does black out the entire top nicely, just a you accomplished. Peace bro.

It's all good.

It's all good. And for your viewing pleasure, check out this Nissan employee having fun with my car at the dealership. Fun that got him fired.

Glad you got him unemployed, at least for dealership work.

Sort of unrelated, but I didn't find a tints thread when I searched, so figure this is close enough.

My Maxi goes in for a tint job at the end of next week. Going with a ceramic solar guard, which I believe is pretty good quality.

The law around here is a 30% tint on the front windows (can't tint the windshield at all), but no restrictions on the back windows at all.

My question is, do I do 30% on the front, and go 5% on the back? Or do I just go 30% all around, which is what I'm leaning towards?

Any opinions or thoughts valued.

I live in a 30 percent state too, I have 20 percent all round. I have never been pulled over, and a cop lives 5 houses down from me. Keeping it all the same percent looks better than diff in my opinion.

Did mine a month ago. 3m black. But this weekend I'm changing it to pearl metallic black.

Thanks. Definitely leaning to keeping it all the same, but don't think they'll even do 20% here (Canada), likely will end up with 30% all around.

Were you able to figure it out? Only the plastic cap of the antenna can be popped off. cannot remove the entire antenna assembly.

Hey, I just got my 2017 white SR. Seriously considering the black roof wrap. How are your roof wraps holding up after a few months/years? Still look good? Any regrets?

My local guy wants $400 just for the roof wrap, no pillars. They use "The Good Stuff" from Avery. Is this a reasonable price, or should I go out of town for a better deal?

For what it’s worth I paid 400 with the pillars and left the guy a 50 dollar tip.
