Annoying Warning sound

My 2018 Maxima started making this annoying warning sound when I turn the car off and get out of it. It's like I left the key in it or something, but I didn't. Anybody know how to trouble-shoot this issue?

Lights not in auto or on, not in park are a couple or reasons it complains when you turn it off

This is not an issue, it does not need troubleshooting, and it costs nothing to solve.

Follow these easy, step by step instructions, and you will never hear that annoying sound again.

1.) After you have arrived at your destination, place your car in Park. Engage parking brake...not parking BREAK as some grammatically challenged write..if you are so inclined.

2.) Push the little round start/stop button, which causes to engine to stop running.

3.) Wait for engine to stop running before you open the door.

4.) Open door to peace and quiet.

Step 3 is very important, because if you open the door THEN shut off engine, that annoying little sound will occur every time.

I'll add one little side point to what Rick said,

if if you have a Platinum with the automatic seat position memory, it's also important to kill the engine before opening the door. If you don't, the seat will stay where it is, which unless you are really far back from the wheel, will make it hard to get out and back in.

its annoying sometimes when i need to hop out just for a moment with the car running.

Thanks for all your advice. The fix was to put the headlights in Auto mode. That solved it!

At least it didn't actually talk at you. I heard one of the old Maximas (2nd gen I think) had a recorded voice for that. Funny how that has never returned, although the car will talk about other things, Particularly the Nav & infotainment systems

We still have to interpret what all the various beeps and noises mean.

Ah yes, I had one of those talking Maximas. If I remember correctly it also had automatic seat belts! Can you verify this LOTH? We seem to be the ones that date back the furthest with our Maximas.
