Shifting at low RPM
Shifting at low RPM
Just purchased a used 2017 Maxima SV with 33k miles on it and noticed from day one that it seems to shift up at a low rpm. Im coming from a '13 optima turbo so I'm not sure if I'm just not used to it or if it's just a CVT thing but its really frustrating and underwhelming, usually end up kicking it into select shift pretty regularly. Could this just be how the car was "broken in" and is there anything I can do to remedy this? Not really a car guy so any advice is appreciated!

it isnt vr shifting per sa but just a different type of shifting, notice the change in rpm's when it shifts?,the belt changes position which provides a different ratio just as gears provide a different ratio..
No, I have not noticed any even mild RPM abruptness when it shifts. The RPMs just smoothly change, not enough to even notice as I'm driving.

Must agree here- around town and such, car is not abrupt- good clean upward momentum...strong freeway merge in sport with an aggressive right foot produces what resembles some nice decent rips, however, and can be "pretty entertaining"
