Volume button

Question.....when I turn the volume button down from the steering wheel the display between the rpm and speed cluster changes...is this normal??? If I hold the button down it doesn't do it, only when I click it intermittently. I'm guessing a faulty switch....any input? T.I.A.

Was researching this problem and came across your message, although I didn't anyone respond. I have a 2016 Nissan Maxima Platinum and I have the exact same problem occurring. Push the volume button down and the screens change on the instrument cluster. To answer your question, no, this is not supposed to happen. Not sure what is going on, dirty switch, faulty switch, etc. I've tried to replicate it for the dealership, but of course, it does not happen, and as always they say they can check into it, but it will cost money and time, so I've avoided it for now. I was thinking of taking some compressed air and blowing it through the button areas to see if maybe it's dirty and potentially causing the issue, but suspect the way the switch is made, something is faulty and as you push down on the volume button, that push is extending underneath the button that controls the changing the information in the instrument cluster. Let me know if you came up with any solutions.

I just checked how my '17 SL works. When I either click or depress and hold down the steering wheel radio volume, the center display does not change.
