Help, some problems w/01 vi swap

I have been running this setup for a little while now. The only problem i have has to do with the fuel delivery i think. If i use the 01 FPR (gold one) on the 01 fuel rail, the car starts up and when i open the throttle it dies out, if i use the other 01fpr (silver one) , i start the car up and it idles low and dies out. I have been using my 96 fpr and now the problem is i dont think i get right fuel mixture. especially in 3rd gear it feels like the fuel cuts off around 4500rpm and 5500rpms, and acceleration is very very slow in 3rd gear. i feel i burn too much fuel also.. Could this be due to the 96 fpr on 01 injectors, would an adjustable FPR solve this problem??thanx

First, one of those is a fuel damper and the other is a FPR.

Second, the 01 injectors are 290cc vs. your stock 240-260cc, so a bit of tuning should help.

Did you do away with the first reg/damper so the fuel goes straight into the fuel rail?

yes, i did away with the fuel damper...every1 who did this mod did not have to tune. the only ecu code i am getting is 13-2 (map/baro) after the swap, i doubt that has anything to do with it.

I'm running rich w/my stock 4th gen so I'm sure I'll need a tune once I do the swap.

^^ Do you have any codes? A stock 4th gen shouldnt be running rich, as the ECU can adjust for this.

I keep getting 0702 CEL even after replacing both front O2 sensors. Just got it again Sat nite and it went away this morning. Prolly the rearO2? Bad Cat? Gonna wait for a wideband anyway.

Check out the Dyno on my website for just how rich it gets...

Wow... That explains the not so good dyno. But I could not find the code 0702 in the FSM. You sure thats the right code you are getting?

Well it's P0420 in the FSM - 3way catalyst system, very vague
0702 is the CEL blink code - front right O2

sorry about the thread jack, PM or email me if you find out anything

Nope, no damper. Goes straight into the fuel rail.

What's everyone else doing to bypass/eliminate the damper? I can't really justify $25 for that little plate & nipple. But I am the typical cheap a$$ maxima type

I'm doing this:

DE-K FPR, 3.5 Inlet pipe, 3.5 Rail, DE-K Injectors

3.5 doesn't have an inline fuel filter either?
Is that bent piece of pipe between the 2 a stock item and what is it?

What kinda issues would I have w/ just leaving the damper on for the swap? erratic pressure?

For some reason, the 3.5 damper (which is on my rail) doesnt require a vacuum source, and the DE-K damper does.. From what I read the 3.5 damper SHOULD be free flowing, and acts as a "shock absorber" for the fuel line. Maybe if you connect a vac source to the damper it will work?

The piece of metal is what the fuel travels through to the other bank of the rail.

Ah, wasn't sure... since you don't have the whole thing in the pic I thought it was "U" shaped like the 3.0 rails are

Then does anyone know what problems might arise from leaving the DE-K damper on for the swap? I'm sure I can try it and see but I'll be about 80miles away from home when I do the swap and plan on knocking it out in a weekend. Don't wanna run into something weird on a Sunday or try to travel back w/ it acting up.

Here's a pic of my DE-K damper:

And the 3.5 damper:

The DE-K FPR is the one on the top.

Hmmm maybe it does, I cannot say. I only had a FPR on mine, and I had to put an adapter where your damper is.
