VI swap misc question
They eliminated the EGR tube.
Sad thing is that they stay closed until >3200rpm on 5th gens. or when coolant temp is low.
You can feel the surging when they open/close as you throttle above/below the cutoff point.

Any response to this?
So there's no way I could use the whole 00 wiring harness and connectors and jus replace whatever it is it connects to on the opposite end of the injectors huh? Oh well, that's fine w/ me, only thing is I don't have any experience whatsoever w/ splicing and soldering wires. But I'm willing to learn though.

And this?
How do I do that (get the injector electrical connectors with some extra wire on them) and where from? Car-parts.com? Can anyone give me a ballpark breakdown of how much these parts will cost if I get them all from car-parts.com or a junkyard? Jus wanna know about how long I have to save to get em all.

You would be surprised how many junkyards do not want to seperate that manifold from there engines....
Luckily I found one in Opa Locka to do it, but they wont give me the wiring harness... So im missing 3 injector plugs, I have the 3 that come on the subharness tho.
I got everything for $400.

If you have the swirl valves in the LIM, the LIM is from a Cali-spec.
If you have a tube and not a block off plate below/behind the throttle-body, then the 2000 Cali specs have EGR like the 2000 Fed specs. 2001s are all Cali spec and do not have EGR.

Are you sure the LIM and IM came from the same motor?
Are you sure the LIM and IM came from the same motor?

And you saw the lower IM that I posted, I removed the swirl valves from that tho...
Im pretty sure it came off the same engine, according to the junkman it came off a running 2K Engine, he never mentioned scavenging for parts..
Thanks...I'm going to confirm that, but I'm sure you're right.
Looks like 2000 fed and cali both have EGR, while all 2001s are cali and don't.
Reason I'm so concerned is that it blows my 2001 ECU in a 2000 cali spec vehicle dream away.
Thanks for the help and especially the pictures~!

No..no..I'm confusing myself.
Apparently, the difference between 2000 cali specs and 2001 cali specs includes that gold bell shaped "swirl control valve actuator". 2000 calis use that, while 2001s is next to the VIAS valve?? Not sure yet.

So does all this mean that a 2000 fed spec and 2000 cali spec UIM are the same? Just the LIM is different? That would open up some options as the LIM seems to be easier to come by (at least on car-part.com).
Ok fellas, I am back. I am in Northwest FL. Near Destin and Panama City.
Alot of confusion in the thread after I left
Upper IM's are about the same, except for the VIAS activator, some have 2 vaccum ports and 2 connectors while others have 1 and 1. And the cali spec will have a plate over the EGR port.

I doubt that, but who knows with Nissan and their crossbreeds. Hell they switch stuff up in the same production year, so it could depend on production date.
FSM says swirl valves are Cali models only, but that doesn't mean it's 100% true.

Ok. Thanks for clarifying things for me. Is there a way to block off swirl valves if I did end up with an '00 cali spec?
*edit* After re-reeading above it looks like the swirl valves are located in the LIM, so I could get a calispec UIM and a fed spec UIM.
