JBL 12" W12GTi sub

I have been looking for a new sub for my car. I previously had a Polk Momo sub powered by a fosgate amp. It was nice and clean but i was looking for a little more power. The JBL is 700w rms and has a 4000w peak. The best price i have found so far is $350. What is the concensus on the JBL sub. How is the sound quality compared to the Polk? Also how is the power compared to the Polk that i had? Would a RF punch power 1000a2(the pre 2000 model) be enough to power this sub? Lastly, is there another sub that you would recommend instead?

sorry for all the questions
thanks,
Paul

p.s. I probably shouldn't even put the two subs in the same sentence in terms of power but i am actually more concerned with the sound quality.

I honestly havn't heard much about the JBL. But it is so outrageously priced that I havn't looked for info. If you found it for $350 new, it says something about either the quality, or how their sales have been. The only sub in this category I can say pretty surely is good, is the Adire Brahma. But for the most part, this category of subs isn't for people who want to bump around the block. They are capable of SPL's well above the average sub. But the sound quality is so clean, that you only feel them and don't "hear" them. Once you push them far enough to distort and your ears hear the sub, they are fried.

I can't remember the T.S. parameters, or JBL's recommended enclosures, but I think they were fairly large. The Brahma's work well in boxes as small as many much less capable subs. The ten for example works wonders in less than 0.4 cubic feet sealed. The twelve works even better in 0.9 to 1.25 cubic feet gross.
