How good is this amp?
How good is this amp?
I just installed my system, and im looking for an amp. i was talking to my friend about it, and he said he has a Craig Powerplay 500W 2/3/4 ch amp. ive never ever heard of this brand before. just wondering if its worth the $70 he wants for it, or is it not worth it at all. thanks.
btw its gonna be for my 6 speakers in the car, not a sub.

No it's not worth it.
A class "d" monoblock amp in it's real simple form is a 1 channel amp ment for power subs with high output.
What do you need???? Well it depends on what your after and your cash flow, but in generel expect to pay no less than $300 for a good amp on a retail basis, stay away from c.c., best buy and dumbass'

since this is "not" for subs, you don't need a class d amp...I would say no to the craig amp too really..you could get away with a 4 ch amp but curious as to why you need 6 channels? are you running all your speaks active? no passive crossovers with the speakers you are using?......I would say to go to your local pawn shops if on a budget and shop for a better brand 4 channel in the range of 50x4 like alpine RF soundstream kicker and whatnot....if you want a new amp look into maybe monitor1 at ampman(no internal crossovers though)..or us acoustics and autotek if budget oriented but for new..their are several different "good" amp mfgr.'s just depends on the budget

For 6 speakers your choices are pretty good...You can either run enough amps to get 6 channels: ie a 6 channel or a 4 channel & a 2 channel, or run a 4 channel run the front to the passive x over and the rear to the rear fill. The later is the most common and usally the cheapest. Or you can just run a 4 or 2 channel to the front and run the rear of the head unit. As you can see it really comes down to how much you wanna spend and how much equipment you want and so on and so on.

well, me being a poor college kid, budget really comes into play, so i was gonna do exactly that, run 2 speakers off the HU, and get a 4 channel amp for the other 4. but my original question was how good was that amp, cuz a friend here was willing to let it go for $70 or so... but i dont want a ****ty amp thats not gonna do anything but sit there.. i do want some function, so ill just wait till i can scrounge up enough $ for a decent 4 channel

But in a more crud method if your friend brings up buying his amp again, just tell him you would buy a cup of **** for 70 bucks b4 you would buy that.
