Just installed my new subs....

After blowing several pairs of MTX Thunder 6000's, I decided to upgrade to the new Alpine Type R dual voice coil 12's. They sound so awesome, definatly better than the MTX's !! I am powering them with a JL 500/1 amp...I love them, and totally recomend them !!

i was never really a fan of those mtx 6000's lol...you think the alpines are worth it, i was considering those or the audiobahns that are like $50 cheeper and take like 700 watts rms or whatever they handle...im kinda in the same boat as you since i keep blowing my fosgates...think i should try runnin 2 of the alpines off my jbl 600/1 amp?

The Alpine Type Rs are good subs. I like Audiobahn as well, right now I'm running one until my new sub gets here. I have last year's model, the AW1200x. If you want SQ then you should consider the Type Rs. The Audiobahns are very boomy, but I listen strictly to rap so it sounds find to me. Definately nowhere near as good as my IDMAX (which I blew), but decent. If you already have the JBL 600 then I'd probably go with the Type Rs simply because you'll be underpowering the Audiobahns if you get 2 12s. If you upgrade to say a 1200.1 and are looking for louder rather than better sound quality then the Audiobahns would be great.

Well, I drove around today with them, and I'm still in love !! I bought the MTX's at Circuit City and got the protection plan on them, so if they blow, they give me new ones for free...So I had to but something that they sell, so I went with the Alpines ! Totally satisfied !!

yeah i think i'd probably go with the SQ, i listen to a lot of rap but i also listen to a lot of other stuff, like right now i got my 2 remaining fosgates runnin off the jbl 600 watt, one HE and one HE2. The amps only up like half way and all bass turned down on the head unit and it sounds great with my kenwood excelon highs, its still enough to be heard around the neighborhood and its still got awesome SQ, but the fosgates arent gonna be lastin to much longer so im considering other subs...to bad i just spent so much for a damn apexi cat back, to think, so much money for a pipe and a muffler
