Factory deck power?
Factory deck power?
Question. I looked for the stats everywhere, but I'd like to know what the factory power (watts per chan rms) stats are for the non-bose cd players in the 5th gen rides. I have some new speakers that need some power and I will amp them soon, but they will get sad factory power until then. Thanks

Look at it this way....you have a 4 channel amp (reputable company) that runs through say, a 25 amp fuse. Keep in mind this is JUST an amp.
Now you have a radio, which includes: Tuner/CD Player/motorized face/clock,volume,bass,treble,etc controls/ Different displays/remote control capabilities/ and supposedly a 200 watt amp (50X4). All of this from the same 25amp or most likely lower rating.
Just something to think about.

Indeed, high end components die under deck power. The Alpine deck I just purchased has the vdrive amp rated at 27w/rms per channel which is still weak for powering anything of substance and the distortion is much higher than a real amp. Larger heat sink, capacitors, resistors, you can't go wrong with an amp.
I'll be running 50w/rms true to the 4 speakers in the doors, that will at least give a little power to them.
