Need your honest opinion

what can my amp be used for? It is 2 channel 2x85=170rms @ 2ohm and 120rms @4ohm. I want it to run a single sub. What kind of a sub ??????

I also have Kappas all around, components up front and 2-ways in the back...My last resort would be to power the components..

You could bridge the amp and run a JL W0.( if you want quality ) Or some cheap wall mart or sears sub. ( if you dont mind crap )

If it were me I would try to get a quality sub that I would be happy with a couple years down the road. Then If I was able to save up some dough over the next 2, 6, or 12 months could get an amp to push it harder. Just go with a larger sealed or a ported box. Most subs will handle that amount of power in boxes that would otherwise make them prone to damage.

I am trying to work with lower wattage, because not into big sound. Still, I am going to get one 12" instead of 10" or 8". SOmeone suggested that MTX 6000 will be good to use with my amp because of its low rating, might be on the look out for that...

I should be getting a new job soon...I guess I will just hold out for a few months and save some dough, get a stronger amp.

Like I said, I wouldn't skimp on the sub. More power isn't just for greater output. The best use of greater power is better sound quality. Even if you were to build an SPL system, the SQ would benefit from greater power. Greater power yields better control of the speaker. But if you have a cruddy sounding speaker to begin with, greater power will just amplify the crud.
