Help on Bazooka Install??
Help on Bazooka Install??
I bought a bazooka Tube like a week ago and today I finally tried to install it,
I ran the power wire form the battery to the tube, then the remote turn on from the red + wire below the rear speakers, then the ground to the metal frame of the trunk. I tapped into the speaker wires from the BOSE system before the amp. It seemed like all the wiring was perfect. Then when I went to turn the radio on the bazooka was not making any noise, all the BOSE speakers were fine but the tube had nothing. I moved the ground a few times thinking it might be that but same deal. When I bought the self powered amped bazooka tube the guy was trying to sell me a line converter thing, but the tube says it takes high & low levels. Any idea on what else I should try??
I realize the Bazooka might sound like crap but it wasn’t hitting at all.
Thanks in advance for your help

tapping between the speakers and bose amp actually gives you Line Level inputs (because they are 1 ohm and lower voltage which actually gives the amp a nice 3-5V signal). not enough juice to push Speaker level inputs on the bazooka sub. its on their site as a recommendation, see the Faq on bazooka.com
ummmm, to bazooka.com and what they say to do..

Tim, thanks for the quick response,
“This is accomplished by cutting the RCA connectors off of the Amplified Bazooka's low level input leads, and using the Blue wires as the positive leads and the White wires as negative leads. Tie into the high level leads of one right and one left Bose speaker. These high level
leads are located inside each enclosure just behind the speaker. Make your connections to these wires and run them out of each enclosure to the Amplified Bazooka inputs.
This configuration will allow you to have much greater control over the bass level adjustment and still take full advantage of the Amplified Bazooka's balanced input circuitry. “
One last thing, does this mean to disconnect the wires that I connected before the amp, and cut off the ends of the RCAs and connect it to the signals after the amp, the tube only has one set of RCAs coming off it so would connect the blue to the positive of one speaker and the white to the negative of the other.
Thank you

contrare, I would go to Radio Smack and get some male RCA adaptors and put those on the leads you already have coming off the speakers. If you use high and low level inputs at the same time, the bazooka amp will poop itself.
They have some rca's already molded into wire. you'd just need one ($5.xx) and cut it in half for right an left. then splice into what you already have.
Remember to always set your level back to low before cranking it back up.
