Most radar jammers are found to be garbage.

Not to mention illegal.

My understanding is that active is the only one that functins worth anything. But I believe the active ones are illegal.

Dont waste your time and $$$....its useless. I've seen test in C&D and other mags that it had little to no effect on lasers whatsoever.

I think the ones did 'seem' to work, was too late (the laser already picked up the target!)

Every couple of years Car and Driver or one of the other mags reviews the "passive" radar jammers.

In short... They're all crap and don't do a thing. Kinda like the "Helix Power Tower" or the way your car feels faster with a couple coats of wax.....

The only way to really "jam" radar would require you to emit a huge amount of microwave energy all the time. Front and rear. There are no companies left anymore that manufacture these devices since it's really illegal. Designs are available on the internet though that look like they'd work and I'm sure if you do your homework you'll find a couple overseas companies that will sell one. The parts would set you back anywhere from $500 to $900 bucks or so if you wanted to make one.

For each such unlicensed device the FCC finds(or a cop finds in your car) will cost you $100,000 and up to five years in prison. You would need two such emitters in your car..... That's 200,000 and 10 possible years(probably suspended with lots of probation). Personally I'll take the speeding ticket and fight it out in court....

Laser jammers are another topic altogether. I've made a couple out of large driving lights with infrared filters. Worked great a few years ago. Problem was the heat generated by the light and the power draw. The FCC doesn't restrict light yet....

I've tested several models with a friend who used to be an officer. None of them had any effect on his radar whatsoever. All of the passive ones are junk and the active ones are illegal.
