Anyone use Peel and Seal? I need some advice...
well I want to sound deaden (mainly from road noise) my car. I have a couple questions.
1) where are the best spots to help reduse ROAD NOISE?
2) I have heard about peel and seal... but I haven't come across anyone who actually used it. If you have, does your car smell like tar when the weather is hot?

I will try installing it on Saturday or Sunday.

I just purchased soem today at Lowes. It says that it's primary use was gutters. The roll was pretty small and it cost like $13. I will try to use it on my rear deck and might just buy Fat Matt or RAMMATT in the future.

i have both in my ride
the peel and seal sucks for upsidown applications due to the fact its tar, so when it gets hot it melts and falls off.
other spots work well with a few layers.
as for the trunk lid i used expandable foam + dynamat
and when it gets hot sometimes it does smell sometimes it doesnt

I've used it in my car and can say it honestly has no odor in any temp. This is a daily driver carpool car. No one has noticed a smell. I have also driven this car to Florida, Atlanta, etc. with no smell from the heat. But DC gets pretty hot in the summer anyway.
But definitely don't use it anywhere where it will be upside down or vertical. The adhesive is no tar based. It's a viscoelastic rubber. The consistency of the adhesive is not quality controlled like dynamat and raammat. Sometimes it will hold upside down. Sometimes it won't. Depends on the individual batch of material. For the top of the rear deck I would use it. With a layer of carpet padding between it and the rear deck. For the trunk lid I am very happy with my combo of vinyl dampening material, mattress padding stuffed in all the holes and liquid nails along all the seams. The mattress padding reduces resonances in the lid and still allows the lock mechanism to move.

so now that you guys actually use it... does it help??? I just want to do peel and seal in the trunk and underneath the rear seats + wheel wells. Also, I will do the doors w/ some raammat. Do you think that would kill significant road noise?

I would start with the firewall, roof and floor if you want to get rid of the most noise. Then the rear deck, trunk, wheel wells, under seat, doors, etc. Doing the doors helps make the door speakers sound better. But it doesn't help the most with road noise.

I used some on the front doors and the rear deck. I don't think it smells AT ALL. In hot temperatures, it sticks well. If it's cold out, you better use a heat gun to soften the adhesive gum. I think it helps although I still get a lot of road noise from the floor and the front pillars/windshield area that needs to be addressed.
