Need help with crossovers

Two days ago I installed Infinity Reference 505cs speakers in the front doors of my 2000 Max SE (I have Infinity Reference 552's in the rear doors). I couldn't decide where to put the crossovers, so I ended up just putting them inside the doors, laying flat and held in place with velcro. I pulled out the factory white plastic circular speaker mount and put the crossover inside the hole for the speaker, slightly rear of the hole. The speakers sounded great once I got everything hooked up and turned on the radio, but I only turned the ignition to "on", I didn't actually start the car and drive around. When I finally got around to driving the car, I noticed a crackling in only the front speakers when I press the accelerator. There was no crackling with the Infinity Kappa 62.1's that were in there before, so I'm thinking it has something to do with the crossovers. Crutchfield told me to move the crossovers inside the car, maybe behind the kick panels. There's room on the passenger side but not the driver's side.

Has anyone experienced a similar crackling sound and how did you fix it? Are the crossovers particularly sensitive to noise? Where is the best place to put them?

I would really appreciate any help or suggestions on this. Thanks.

Matt

Mine fit behind the kick panels. I assume yours will too, unless infinity has some rediculously large x-overs.

Yeah, if you don't have enough room in the kicks you might try somewhere up under the dash. Definately move them from inside the door, too much exposure to the elements in there.

did u happen to drive the car in the rain? you may have already ruined your crossovers because they can NOT get wet. if they do, they break. immediately move them out of your doors. you can put them in the trunk or in your glovebox, or you could be real trick and make a plexiglass enclosure for them, then put them anywhere.
