Need help on a weak antenna signal after HU replacement

I replaced my factory Bose HU with a Kenwoood DPX 6020 in my 98 maxima and everything is fine but the antenna signal is lower than what it was when I had the factory HU in. If anybody could help that would be great.

Hey man, I had the same problem with my 99 max installing a pretty f**ken sweet Pioneer HU. I was told maximas have two antennas. One power near the trunk and one wired in the back window. Thats why the factory antenna plug has two pins. If you used an antenna adaptor like I did, only one of the antennas get used. Set up the correct way I was using the weaker window antenna. I had to shave off the numb on my adaptor to in could switch it around. This resulted in recieving a much stronger signal from the power antenna. try it, worked for me.

I have the JVC KDSH-99 and the signal is absolutely horrible, to the point, where there are only two words coming out every minute. I own the 2k1 Max. Can you explain in more detail what you did? Thanx.

ya, I'm not sure if its the same on the 2k1 max, and i know its different if you had the Bose system. the factory antenna plug has 2 "prongs" each represent one of the two antennas. Cheap antenna adaptors only use one antenna and "cut-out" the other one. If your adaptor is using the weak signal antenna, disconnect it, and turn it around so that the other "prong" is being used instead. You may have to snap off or shave the numbs, or guides on your antenna adaptor so you can reconnect it.

Hello guys,

I am experiencing some reception problems, but it occurs now that I have added and amp/sub to the factory Bose. I haven't checked the ant. plug again yet (PITA to remove the Bose HU) but my fm reception seems worse, kinda crackily. CD's play awesome. would the line level adapter have anything to do with this? or does it sound like my ant. plug is loose? thanks for the suggestions.
