install a sub w/ bose...?

A friend of mine gave me a sub and box and amp to install in my '99 SE w/ the bose system.
Do I need an adaptor and if so what are the different ones and which are better?

Thanks!
Tom

PAC

http://www.affsave.com/pac4.htm Check out this site. They sell the interfaces for the Bose units. You cannot use a simple high level to low pass converter with a bose system. The bose systems send out anywhere from a .5volt signal to a 9 volt signal to the speackers. If you use a high level to plow pass converter you will fry the converter your amp and possibly the bose HU. The PAC's are nice plus they give you a 2:1 gain and infinite attenuation. Good luck.

Do NOT get the ROEM unit if you want to keep your BOSE HU. Get the AOEM-NIS2, at this page on that site: http://www.affsave.com/pac5.htm

Thanks!

Since I'm not familiar with the audio portion of my car I called around and Tweeter said they could install the sub and amp (which I supply) for about $105 which includes a 8 gauge wire set and adaptor. But I don't know what type of apadtor they will use for the car. They know it's a '99 Max with Bose so i figure they should know what they are doing. Is there anything I should ask them or know before bringing the car to them? I have an appointment for Wednesday afternoon so i need to know ASAP. Thanks for all your help.

Is $105 a good price for installation ($55 for labor, about 30 for 8 gauge wire set and about $20 for the adaptor? They recommended the 8 gauge wire because the amp is only rated about 200 and the speaker can hold up to about 500-600. Does this seem right?

Thanks for the help again.
