my friend has a 94 max...no bose....we ripped out the rear speakers and slowlyyyy bent the metal back with a wrench or hammer or something and installed infinity kappa 6x9's.....sounds great...i would recommend the infinity speakers, especially if u plan on putting subs in your car...the highs out of the infinity speakers are perfect

6X9's on a 4th gen is a direct bolt on, only difference is that it would have to be installed from inside the trunk versus taking the seats out and flipping the lid on the top where the speakers normally hold. 6X9's i would say give better bass but because of they way they are hanging they might have some rattle? not sure if there is any major flaw with it

BTW i had a 95 GLE with 6X9 MTX coaxials and had no problems with them. I also sell 2003 Kicker 6X9's and 61/2's if anyone needs speakers. PM me if interested

Took about an hour to dremel the rear speakers and make it oval, using the 6x9 cutout that came with my speakers from bestbuy, Cheap Pioneers. Definitely sounds better than my Bose speakers that were blown.

why would anyone go thru all the troubles to put 6x9 in the back ? The smart solution will be to invest in some real good component speakers up front and a 2ch amp to power them. There really isnt any need for rear speakers especially with a good set of comps up front.
