Stereo advice, bose questions for '92 Max

Ok, my tape player has crapped out, cleaning won't work, I still have original Bose speakers all around that work fine surprisingly with the radio. I use the tape player for my ipod, so I'm wondering if it's worth me replacing the whole deck with something that has Aux inputs for the ipod (a much better input choice for it), and how easy it would be to do so?

I understand there is an adapter that allows you to plug into the bose stock speakers, is this easily available online or at any stereo store (or even Best Buy?). Also, will I get crappy sound doing this, is it even worth it? I'm dieing without my ipod, i need help! i was just considering buying a cheap Aiwa on Crutchfield or something with Aux inputs.

TIA!

I have the adaptor in my car and after about three years all of my bose speakers and/or amps are screwed up. My deck is an Alpine 7840 (4V preout)and the whole thing (deck and adaptor) were professionally installed.

I would say if you are going to put in a new deck, save the money and get speakers, too. Actually, get speakers, amps and subs.

if you don't really see much extra money coming your way soon, maybe go to ebay and get a replacement bose head unit.

shoot, that's what i was worried about. Now it comes to a question of how long I'll have the car... I guess I can always take the stuff out if the car dies in the next year or so...
