more adire shiva ???s

ok, so ive got 2 shivas in a 2 cube box...yes i know this is 2 small of a box, but at the time i was thinking about more rock and techno bass so i went w/ the smaller box....but as the months have gone by i have gone from a total sound freak to a bass freak and find myself wanting more...so heres the question:

will the shivas pound noticably harder w/ 2 cubes each, or should i go for more of an spl sub?

also to add to the eqtn is that i dont have a lot of $$ to spend on subs, so the budget would have 2 b no more than $200 per sub if i bought new ones (although i would go used to get nicer stuff if that is recommended)

thanx 4 ne suggestions

Check out page 9 in this PDF document for the response of the Shiva in small enclosures. Going from 1 to 2 cubes, you get about a 9Hz drop in the F3 and F10. I don't think you need to change subs but if you decide to, both the Dayton(Parts Express) DVC12 and Stryke SAE1204 both perform a little better than the Shiva in smaller boxes.

I'm building 2 85 liter, vented home subs with the Shiva and I picked up a close out VP12 from Adire for my car. The VP12 is a Shiva clone with dual 4 ohm voice coils. Adire built them as a OEM for a Vamp Audio which must not have paid the bill. Adire sold them for $75 each! Check out the "Specials & Preorders" at the Adire Store regularly for these deals.

If you are heading the SPL route I would look into a sub with more volume displacement and less focus on good sound. I would also seriously look into a ported or bandpass system as you can get 3, 6, 9 dB or more improvement. That doesn't seem like much on paper but it is a big difference for your ears.
