Audio newbie: Audiobahn any good?

Are Audiobahn systems any good? What about their subs? I hear they suck, and I hear they're god, so I'd appreciate personal experiences. If they are O.K., (and I'm not looking to win any contests, just want to upgrade from my POS Bose and have it look good) then I'll post again with links to the exact stuff I'm looking at.

Yes I know, I've read it...twice. Doesn't help much, only suggests that I should run the two 12" subs im looking at from one amp. The thread turned from promising into two guys throwing fists at each other's credibility and systems. I don't need biased, immature arguments, I need facts and knowledgable opinions.

This is the exact sub setup I'm looking at.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...category=18803

If this is any good, what kind of amp would I need? What kind of speakers would you recommend?

Here is the HU I'm looking at.

http://www.etronics.com/product.asp?stk_code=alpcda9811

I'm pretty sure it will work, but like I said I'm an audio newbie, so any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

what kind of music do you listen to? reason i ask is because that box is a bandpass enclosure. the bass will be very boomy. if you want tight bass go with a sealed enclosure.

Nope, bandpass is fine with me. Besides, I'll eventually be dynamatting the trunk, and adding some serious foam to my inlet, or whatever you call those things (The place where the BOSE sub was behind the rear seats? I'll leave that open. Let me know if this is a horrible idea--Its not all that hard to make sure its sealed up.)

Any idea what amp I should get?

That any better? Worth the extra money? Besides the fact that it looks cooler, is there any advantage to the setup?

I like audiobahn for the price!

I use their amps because they look cool, and I dont have the money to spend on ugly *** very high end amplifiers. Audiobahn amps and subs look really cool in custom installs too.

THe amps are great, their subs are pretty good, just dont overpay, because there is better for only $50 more...

Well the buying period is running out quickly, and there is a 99% chance I'm gonna go ahead and get them:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=3052404833

What amp should I get? Speakers? Anything else? Also, will Circuit City install this, even though I didn't purchase it from them?

speakers are no big deal if u set up the levels right on the amp? are u looking to spend alot of money or go cheap? do u want audiobahn or do u want something else? i have an audiobahn amp and sub and my whole system was around 500 bucks. 370 for the amp and 125 for the sub. circuit city might do it but im pretty sure that best buy will do it. audiobahn is good, i love my subs and amp and they look awesome.

with those subs the amp u will want will be around 1200-1400 watts. 2 or 4 channel and ull want it to be able to run at 2 ohm. who ever installs it make sure that the amp can match up to the dual 4 ohm subs. if they are both 700 rms, the best amp would be a 1400 x2 @2 ohms. depending on price look for that.

that's the thing though. yes it says 800 watts rms, but is that combined or rms rating for each sub? if you get a 1200-1400 watt amp and start crankin it up, you'll risk blowing it. i'm guessing it's 400 for each sub, and they had it wired into 1 channel so technically it'll handle 800 watts.

that being said, are the subs wired into 1 channel or does each sub have it's own terminal?

It says:

"Power Handling: 800 Watts RMS"

And I'm not sure about the number of channels, but they'll be here in 3-5 days, so if you tell me what to look for, I'll find out.

And yes Irish I'm looking to go relatively cheap, but not bottom of the barrel. If I can find a good deal on new Audiobahn speakers off ebay, then I will, unless anyone has a particular problem with their speakers.

Here's a couple amps I'm looking at.

Thanks for all the help so far guys, keep it up!

The seller claims they are Audiobahn High Excursion. Is that 700 rms each or combined?

my 2 cents
the amp.. my opinion is go with something GOOD. if u get something cheap now (especially an amp) in a couple of months you'll wanna go with something better which will cost you more. fosgate's pretty good. orion, kicker, JL Audio, fosgate, PPI (expensive but SWEET), Alpine (dont know how good they are for the lows tho).

speakers: if you get nice speakers you HAVE to get a nice amp to power them, otherwise there's no point in getting either of them. So if I were you I woud stick with pioneers. I heard some xplods powered by an alpine amp, they were bumping pretty good. clean midbass. but i'd still go with pioneers (as a matter of fact I have a pair that needs to be installed. just need the adaptors for the rear door of 5th gen, anyone has any idea where to get one?).

oh yeah, about installation... im pretty sure circuit city will install it but check at few places! cuz CC will charge A LOT. also, if it's only the subwoofer you're going for try doing it yourself. It may take a good few hours but damn is it fun! If you have a friend who's pretty good at this stuff (hey, i didn't, still came out pretty good) hook up with him and start working on your project.
Good luck!
