When I hooked up my amp, you have to run wires from your headunit. I'm confused about taping into the speakers. We don't have 6x9's. We have 6.5" speakers. But for powering the amp, you have to get it from the battery and drill through the firewall and run the cable to your trunk or where ever you are placing the amp.

Are there detailed instructions on how to do it?

you can splice the rear speaker wires and run them to your amp if it has speaker level line-in inputs, otherwise you'll have to get a line-in to rca convetor (assuming you don't already have an aftermarket headunit that has rca outputs). Either way you're going to have to run a power wire from the positive terminal of the battery to the positive connector on the amp and also find a good spot for a ground in the trunk or rear seat area that will then be connected to the ground on the amp. You would also have to deal with the remote wire hook up which would be avoided if you get an amp with the speaker level input or have a HU that has the remote line output.
