Looks great, nice paint job, I just don't know how I feel about having a pair of subs firing directly at the back of my amp

Subsonic frequencies are non-directional. The car sounds awesome. It is also an infinite baffle configuration, so it has a nearly flat response curve. The lowend is unreal. I desiged the car the way I did so that I could fit all the equipment in it that I would need to compete and still have a functional trunk. The equipment only extends about 8" into the trunk.

I have not taken any pictures since I put the rest of the equipment. I will as soon as all the wiring is done. I got everything done to the car over the summer, then at the first of August, I started law school. Now I am just able to work on it when I can find time, which is not too often.

Was there no way to make your sub baffle out of one piece of MDF? If you could do that, then, after it is mounted, put sound deadening over it, that would make the deck a lot stronger. This is similar to how Scott Buwalda installed his infinite baffle setup in his world champion Nissan Altima.

Because the rear deck's not completely flat and has some dips and bumps and the back portion of it is double thick/has supports as well as some parts of the front of the deck havnig double thick sheet metal, I'm not too worried about it flexing. So far, it's running fine.

Well that is all that matters. As long as the rear deck is properly deadended--which it is clear that it is--and you have no vibration during use, if it fine. All the additional wood would do is add mass. I know about the uneven surface of the rear deck. That is why after attaching the baffle, you have to sound-deaden over it. This adds another level of deadening, whil also sealing around the edges of the wood.

BTW, how does it sound? With my IB setup, I get unreal lowend. Down around 30hz, my roof flexes as if I was running a ported enclosure tuned really low.

Very nice there Parag. That is what I want to do in my car. How much power can each sub handle?

As of right now, its powered by approx. 60 watts rms combined through parallel wiring on one channel of the bose amp (this is mainly for break-in purposes). It actually sounds great, I can hear the low notes coming that weren't there before even though the bose amp is hp'ing and lp'ing them. I am thoroughly impressed with these subs, can't wait to get some real power to'em!

Thanks Juan! Each sub handles 150 watts rms. With the 4150 bridged and the subs running in parallel they will be getting about 160 each, so they will be sufficiently powered. I'm glad I didn't try to squeeze ten's in there, they would not have fit.

Sounds good so far, with such little power they are already impressing me. Can't wait to get the comps in up front, the amp wired up and hopefully an IDX installed along with it all. I'm sure eventually I'll get the dremel back lol. BTW what size was that unibit that you had? And as soon as I can get my hands on an IDX we'll install this stuff

First system (3 weeks ago installed)
2x Infinity Reference 12" subwoofers SVC @ 4ohms
Rockford X400.4 250wrms x 2 bridged @ 4 ohms (542wrms birth)
Clean and hit decent.

Wanted more power so::

2x Alpine Type-R 12" DVC 4ohm x 2
MB Quart RAA1000 1000wrms Amplifier (unknown birthsheet, ill bench it later)

Hits pretty hard, its ugly until I get a real box built.

You went from a rockford amp to a rockford amp, good sub choice on the second run of subs.

Yes, yes I did. It went from class A/B with no remote gain controls to class D with gain and Eq controls.

Helps out a lot when I switch genres of music, or get home late at night! Also, more power and efficiency, the MB Quart puts out less heat since it's not class A/B.

You might want to upgrade your wiring to 4 gauge.

He has 4ga. going into the cap, and to the distro. That short little run of 8ga. is fine for a 400 watt class D amp. Also, that short of a run could exceed the limits of an AGU fuse, so as long as that fuse is holding, the wire is fine.

Actually if you look at the MB Quart setup you'll actually see its all 4GA now...

The 8ga was only for the 550wrms (birth) class A/B rockford 4chan, which is more than enough wiring, since the power blocks on it only take 8ga max anyways.

Have a question for those you with boxes in the back of your trunk. How the hell do you get the woofer box to stay still when driving? Last night, I finally said screw it and pulled mine out. Too damn irritating with that thing coming lose all the time and slamming around in the trunk back and forth. Miss my bass. I have no clue what the solution would be. Probably gonna have to do some custom work. Just did not want to spend a fortune right now, trying to save to get my headers. My box came lose all the damn time. Nothing seemed to hold it into place no matter what I tried.

I no longer have this set-up. My sub is now in my rear deck, but when I did, I made custom brackets out of aluminum stock and attached to the stock frame bolts...

Solid as hell.

I got a wide thick strip of metal from Home Depot. One end was screwed onto the underside of the box, the other end was screwed down onto an MDF board that I used as a flooring in the trunk. It looks like this:
