JL 10W0s in a JL Power Wedge, powered by a Pioneer which is mounted to the back of the sub enclosure.

Quick question - I've got a 3rd gen with the Clarion sound system - not Bose. Does the Clarion system have amps? I get a lot of distortion whenever I'm listening to music with a lot of bass. The solution to this, of course, is to install some two-way speakers, which I'll do next week. Until then, is there anything I can do to get rid of the distortion on the speakers I have now?

edit: Subs, box, and a din-and-a-half Alpine head unit for $275, amp for $75. Head unit for $130 retail, but I might exchange it.

Yes there are stock amps for the clarion in your trunk. They are a kind of yellow metal thing. If your distorting turn the music down or the bass. It could also be that the surrounds of your speakers are completly dissintegrated. They were on mine and I had cracked tweeters.

blaupunkt pca 2100

custom aluminum frame for boxes, bolted to the frame

two blaupunkt PCA 1000s (i dont like the grilles either)

40 gig iPod running through my AUX up front

sony head unit, 54x4 peak, 24x4 rms... enough to push the pioneer 220 watts 4 ways in all corners. it has a nice LCD color feature, 3 outputs, aux input, removable face plate, plays mp3 cds, and sounds real good.

all the stock trim pieces fit back in place, carpet fits fine, spare tires is still acessable, no rattles and it sounds great

Looks good sxn, not many people on the org. go with Blaupunkt, esp for amps and subs, what made you decide to go that route?

i wanted an affordable set up, to add some bass to my normal music, and be to bump occasionally... not win any SPL competitions, get me a citation, or make me deaf.

ive had good experiences with blaupunkt in the past; my uncle had a full set up by them in his s4 and a6. i had heard they were good for sq, so i started looking at their subs.

car domain had the TSWs for 25 bucks each (found here) which is a steal compared to the average retail price i found of 80-100, and some insanely high msrp. it is a nice bonus that this series of sub has transparent cones... looks hot back lit with neon . looked at their amp specs, found one i liked, and found a site that had it on sale for 75 (normal price is 1XX) and threw in a free blaupunkt ground noise isolator.

it ended up being a nice cheap set up that did what i wanted. i definately see why you ask....havent seen another blaupunkt set up on here, and ive gone through most, if not all, of this thread.

Less than 200 bucks for subs and an amp is an excellent reason

thanks man. it turned out real well... working with aluminum is pretty easy. if i cared, a sander would round out the edges nice, and some mothers would polish it up nice. bolted right to the frame using existing bolts, and solid as a rock. with both boxes in the trunk, i still was able to take my girl to the air port, with two suitcases back there.... i can definatly live with this set up

Looks great. Personally I would get rid of the flush mount board. It inhibits sound entering the cabin. Just my opinion though. Is that a nitrous bottle mount on the right?

My setup has changed...

This was my sound rig back in October:

Iv'e made some changes:
same MB Quart 10' . all around Pioneer TSD160R's
New custom made transmission line box and two new amps, now properly installed. The bass is pretty decent and uncolored.
