Does anyone know what brand and model an excellent radar detector is??? i need to buy one since i seem to keep getting pulled over. Also i need one that has a loud alert since i always have the music bumpin' hella loud.

try Bel Vector 960. You should find it in any circitcity. Its probably costing u about $200 to $225. If you have extra money then go with passport 8500 around $280 to $300. With me i think the Bel Vector 960 is good enough.

The BEST is the V1. The next best is the 8500. The possible third is the Bel.

That is the order. Why? I could go on and on about it, but if you look around you could see for yourself. If not convinced, come back and ask.

Judging by your post, if you think getting a RADAR detector is going to keep you from getting pulled over, think again. You'll probably get pulled over more after you get it, and will more likely get a ticket than not just for having one in the car. RADAR detectors are only as useful as the driver will allow...aka common sense.

I second what Tony said. A radar detector is only as useful as you allow it to be. Being cognizant of speed traps and the fact that a lot of cops will pace you or use "instant-on" won't allow your radar to help you. That being said, I've had a Valentine One (V1) for 6 years now and have never had a ticket by radar. I had one going through a work zone with a cop pacing me in an old Bronco and there was nothing my radar detector could have done to help me.

V1's are the best! To ensure customer loyalty as your product ages, they will actually allow you to return your older detector and credit your return towards the purchase of the latest-and-greatest for excellent investment protection. The V1's have never changed in price as long as I've been following and they should still go for around $399.

anyone ever heard of the passport sr7? my local shop had ordered one for someone, but they backed out of it and the shop had it for a for few months, until 2 days ago, some guy with a s2000 bought it. it sells for $1100 retail, but they wanted to get rid of it, so they installed it for $700. this thing has sensors that go on the front bumper, and the rear bumper, and is a laser detector, its pretty badass, but $1100 retail for a radar detector? can it really be that good?

 

$1100 for a radar detector is overkill. The V1 has directional arrows for the front, rear, and sides. It also let's you know which signal is this strongest if there are multiple bogeys, so you know where to focus your attention first. There's no need to pay for separate sensors when you can get it all in something a little bigger than a pack of cigarettes!

 

i have heard of it there is a benz s600 in the garage where i keep my car, he has them on his front and rear plate holders and on the sides of his car. it looks sweet but $1000+ for a dadar detector alittle to rich dont u think?
