Mounting an Amp.........

Can you/is it a good idea, to mount an amp on the top or side of your sub box..... I was just wondering b/c I am going to be getting another small amp and I need a mounting location........

Not a problem at all. Only thing I'd be concernesd with is applying a little silicone or glue to the mounting screws to make sure you box doesn't leak through the mounting screw holes.

It's a good idea. Just make sure the box and amp fit in the trunk the amp may get damaged when you push it back in.

One other thing to beware of is cooling.. if you mount the amp on top of your sub box, just make sure there's enough air movement (or clearance) above the amp to give it enough airflow to cool properly.

Yah but if I get in your trunk..........

Then I can just rip out your box and walllah, I got your amps too. Thanks for making it easy on me.

I would never do that, but it gives effect to the story.


You should at least disconnect the trunk release near your seat and just use the key. So if the thief breaks a window he still cant get in the trunk, so easily anyway.

Not if the sub box is bolted to the body of the car

And if he uses security screws to mount the amps on the box he'll be keeping his stuff for a long time.
