Put a new head unit in and now my antenna always stays up, help!

Put a new head unit in and now my antenna always stays up, help!

I installed a Kenwood Exceleon x-869 head unit and now whenever my car is on, my antenna goes up, i only want it to go up when the radio is on, not when im listening to a cd. anyone know how to fix this?

i had that problem when i had my pioneer radio in. now i just changed my radio to the sony xplod, and it doesnt do that anymore. i guess different headunits do that

The antenna will always stay up whenever the headunit is on. This is common in most aftermarket stereos. The only way around this is if the headunit has a separate lead for the ANTENNA control (not, mistakingly the remote turn on). Another way is to install a toggle switch in the power lead of the antenna to turn on the antenna on and off as you wish.

Being that your Kenwood is a higher end model, there should be a lead for the antenna control. I have owned alot of Kenwood headunits (top models) and most of them have a seperate lead for the power antenna control lead. Check your harness again, you had probably bypassed this. If I am not mistaken, I believe the color is a blue wire with a colored tracer. (The other blue wire is for the remote turn on---no tracer.) I hope this helps you out any.

thanx mixxmax. i think mine is the 2nd highest exceleon they make so its bad ***, ill check it out, thanx man
