Subwoofer died out of no where...Narrowing the Problem Down :)!

Hey guys I ran into this terrible mess. Out of no where My sub died on me once I started the car today. I was listening to it fine, and next time I started the car (5 min later) the sub never worked. I have the following set up

Pioneer 8500 Head Unit
Kicker L5 12" 1200 Watt
Phionex Digitl 2 Ch. 1200 Watt
Pioneer Speakers all around
Compacitator
Circuit Breaker

I checked every single wire from the ground wire to the power wire connecting to the battery.

Any thoughts or ideas?

P.S. Amp shows green light (no problems, and compacitator shows stead power flow.

Thanks in advance.

If your amp is showing the green light, then it is obviously getting power. Re-check all your cables, specifically the speaker wire from the amp to the sub and also the RCA cables on the amp. If the light for the amp is on, it is not going to be your power/ground wires or your fuses. If it is a wiring problem it has to be the RCA wires from the HU to the amp, the speaker wire from the amp to the box, or the speaker wire from the inside of the box to the sub. Is it possible that you blew your sub? When you last had it on were you running it very hard? If you still can't figure it out, it is probably best to take it to an audio shop.

Highly doubt any chance on blowing the sub. I had it for about 4 months and never went above 35 out 50 max volume and no max bass boost.

Disconnect the speaker leads from the amp, and see if you can "pop" the sub with a AA battery. If it does not "pop", you need to pull the sub out of the box, and see if it is disconnected in the box.

I have taken the sub out of the box, however, no disconnected wires appeared. I will try the AA battery test. How do i go about it... touch one wire to the + and the other to the - ?

thanks

I just went outside (WOW ITS FREEZING) and "poped the sub with the AA battery" it works, meaning that its not the speaker wire from the sub to the amp...

any ideas on my next move...

check the remote turn on wire coming from the back of the HU. I think its blue/white. if this wire is undone, the amp will still be getting power, but it wont turn on.
i think you can test this by jumping the +12v terminal with the remote terminal on the back of the amp.

i dont know the specifics of your amp, but on mine that green light just represents that the amp is getting power. There is a seperate red light that shows when it is on. Is this the case with yours?

You could also check if your HU is still configured for the subwoofers. If that got reset the same thing would be happening.'

good luck

check to see if your getting output from your rca jacks from your sub.. maybe you hit a button on your h.u. and shut it off. also see if you can reset your amp..

PROBLEM SOLVED!!!

THE GUY WHO DID MY INSTALL WAS A COMPLETE A$$!!

He ran the rca from the amp to the HU well untill the passanger side where it stuck out by the floormat, so someone in my car pulled it with thier feet and disconnected it from the HU, i opened the entire console connected it and taped it as a precaution, and then tugged the rca where it was showing away. Everything works fine, and now EVEN better, since I rewired every single wire..

Pheew!

Thank you guys VERY much for all of your help, I really appreciate it.
