Hey guys I ran into this terrible mess. Out of no where My sub died on me once I started the car today. I was listening to it fine, and next time I started the car (5 min later) the sub never worked. I have the following set up
Pioneer 8500 Head Unit
Kicker L5 12" 1200 Watt
Phionex Digitl 2 Ch. 1200 Watt
Pioneer Speakers all around
Compacitator
Circuit Breaker
I checked every single wire from the ground wire to the power wire connecting to the battery.
Any thoughts or ideas?
P.S. Amp shows green light (no problems, and compacitator shows stead power flow.
Thanks in advance.

Sounds like the amp isnt the problem.. I would check the sub connection on the box or even inside of the box (maybe something came loose).. Or on the 8500 you have the option of turning the subwoofer on or off, maybe it is currently turned off.. Check to make sure the rca cables are still in place both at the amp or behind the dash, that could also cause the problem you are having..
I had that happen a month ago. However, the tin wire that connects to the basket on the subwoofer was the cause to my problem. The stereo shop was nice enough to replace the speaker, even though it was 3 or 4 more months out of year warranty. The amp gains were set by the store, so there was no misuse or abuse.
I appreciate all the feedback. Please let me know what I should do...
So far i compiled this list...
1. Take apart center console and check wiring.
2. Possibly replace speaker wire from sub box to amp and speaker wire inside the sub box that connects the sub itself to the box.
thanks

Wire doesn't usually go "bad" so I don't know how good replacing that wire is gonna work (you should be able to visually inspect it and see if it's OK).
And rather than take the console apart and all, do you have a friend that'll let you hook your sub up to his amp to make sure that your sub hasn't gone "bad."

I used a AA battery to "pop" the sub, and it worked. Meaning the speaker wires from the sub are fine. I have nothing else left to bother with since the ground cable works, there is power to the amp, the sub wires are intact....
could it be the RCA cable to the head unit?
could it be the RCA cable to the head unit?
