I need help installing my system..

hey everyone..

i guess u can call me a newbie when it comes to this, but i really want to do this myself (with help from the .org members of course) and dont know where to start

im replacing the entire bose system with this

blaupunkt san jose head unit
infinity reference 6000cs components
infinity kappa 52.5i
metra 99-7416

now, is there a writeup on how to replace a bose system like this? i've looked at every single FAQ link in teh forum and everything i come across is one that's involving an amp and a sub, which does not apply. do i need to take out every single audio related wire in the car, and redo the whole thing??

the only thing i did so far was to remove all the stock parts (door panels/speakers/tweeters/headunit)

i need this asap, i'd like to get it done tomorrow, cuz i have no heat in the car (the climate control is mounted onto the bracket which has 4 stripped screws attached ot the head unit which is all disconnected at the moment...uh..yeah)

thanks in advance
peace..

Ok ill try to help

You need wiring harness (found at pep boys and other auto stores)
You will need a bose antenna adapter( found at any local audio shop)

1) Wire up the deck
2) You will need to run a speaker wire from the deck to the kick panel for the front speakers.
3) Mount your crossovers in the kick panels with double sided tape.
4) run a wire from the x-overs through the door hole to the door speakers
5) Run a wire from x overs to the stock tweeter location
6) Mount the tweeter with double sided tape.

7) For the back speakers you will need to mount your x-overs inside the door ( I think you might need to run a hire for the back speakers too, I’m not sure how the bose amps are set up on a 2000 model)

ps: i recommend that you get a 4 channel amp.. The system will sound much cleaner and louder.

Hope this helps

Check out THIS thread. I replaced my entire Bose system as well. Also look at my home page for pics. Good luck and don't hesitate to ask us more questions.

thanks for the responses...

ok here are some more questions

- u mounted the x-overs behind the kick panel? i dont think there's enough room for mine.
- how do i direct the wire connecting the x-over to the front speaker? do i have to take out the fat black cover protecting the wires going from the body to the door and run it thru that?
- do i really need a wiring harness? can't i just cut off the stock connecter and crimp the wires from tehre to the head unit directly? i dont plan on reselling this car

thanks again

i have infinity kappas and the x-overs fit perfectly in the kick pannels
(just open them and check, they come off very easily)
