how good are my speakers + HU????

When i first got my car(96 gxe), it had no cd player so i bought this
http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pn...etailComponent

Just after i got this hu, my rear speakers were blown so i bought http://www.circuitcity.com/detail.js...&oid=68523&m=0

I havent been in a car with a nice system so i dunno what a "nice" system sounds like. Are my speakers and hu crap? Are they worth keeping? My front speakers are still factory ones. Any advice on products to buy for a nice sounding system? (not much bass needed btw) If my hu and speakers are worth keeping, my budget would be around $500. What set up would be best for my $500? Thanks in advance.

Replace the front speakers, hopefully put the new speakers in home made pods for better imaging. And get a small amp, sub and sealed sub enclosure. That is within your budget if you do the labor yourself.
