I would like to bypass the antitheft chip key. I have tried using a duplicate key with my original key next to it and it will not start. I was told by install shops that they could attach a key to the steering column ? anyway just having the original key near the ignition switch doesn't work.

when the place installed my auto start, they installed some transmitter that would transmit the code from a copied key into the car somewhere that would allow it to start ... also, one of my friends magnatized a key to the steering column so that the key would be within range to allow the start(this was on a lexus tho)

however, in theory, if you magnatize a key with the chip/code on it to the steering column, a copied key w/o the chip SHOULD work

just be sure you make enough copies of the keys with chips, cuz they need all the keys to copy/blockout the codes

For my car, the chip was removed from one of the keys and placed inside the steering column (the black plastic) near the receiver. This does eliminate the security feature of the chip, but I feel that the convienence/security that my Clifford alarm surpasses what Nissan provides. The chip is in the blue plastic in your key. This also means that if you lose a key you can buy a normal key for $5. Hope this helps.

As a clifford installer for about 6 years, the simple way to achieve good results will be to break open the key and glue the transducer to the antenna around the key switch. The black ring around the key switch is the antenna for the factory theft system on 2000+ models. Attach the transducer with super glue to the rear of the antenna.
