97 Maxima, just looking to replace speakers

It has the BOSE, the speakers are on their way out. I don't need good sound quality, the BOSE sound fine to me, what are some decent speakers that I could replace them with?

Best bet is start shopping around and give different speakers a listen. "Good" is only relevant to the individual listening to them. That said, give Boston Acoustics a listen

Can I assume you're changing the head unit if you're going to replace the Bose speakers with aftermarket?

Well, the reason he asked (I think) is because of two reasons:
1. The stock HU has no built in amplification, each Bose speaker has its own amp.
2. The amps on the speakers will have trouble powering aftermarket speakers because the amp is made for 1 ohm speakers and aftermarket speakers are mostly 4 ohms. They will work, but will be so quiet that I doubt they will be loud enough to listen too.

So basically you have two choices...replace the HU also along with the speakers, or get a 4 channel amp and an adapter for the HU so that you can use all 4 new speakers.

lol. Yeah it is rough that you have to upgrade the system as a whole (more or less) to get decent sound

Yea that is rough heh.. ok my next question would be: What AMP and compenents would you recommend? I'll probably just keep the back speakers stock because they are okay. And what vendor to purchase them from?

for speakers: Mb Quart or Boston Acoustics.

and about your set-up....i don't even think u can do that (replacing only 2 speakers) for 4 aftermarket speakers u need amp and bose adapter that is around $70 i think.

Actually he can if he uses an aftermaket HU and the adapter. I think Crutchfield has them for around $50.

yeah. u can do that, but there is really no point in keeping 2 ****ty speakers. and i think he wants to keep Bose HU.

I want to do an upgrade too....but just the HU cause i want to add satalite radio and my bose cd player isn't working any more. the rest of the system is just too expansive. i am already going to spend $1000 just for that, and that's "maybe" if i can get HU i want for cheap.

like i said earlier, the bose sounds fine to me. I'm not looking to build a stereo any better than what it comes with.
