can i run a remote wire off my cig lighter fuse?

i have a stock bose head unit and i am curious if i can run a remote wire from my cig lighter fuse since it has a constant 12v source, is this ok or is this too much volts for the amp? thanx

Umm the ideal way is to find the power wire on your head units harness and they make these blue things that just tap into it.. takes 5 seconds. I'd really reccomend doing that... If your going to do it, do it right. Just my .02 cents.

Yes, just make sure your amp will turn off when the car is turned off.

omg please use a test light if not a multimeter to find a switched power source before you fry something else. Those "blue" things are called T-Taps and come in red, yellow, and blue and you'll need a male connector to plugin to it. I wouldn't use the cig lighter considering installing a switch to turn on/off the amp is more trouble than finding an accessory wire under the dash or removing 4 screws to pull out the radio.

Yea T-Taps.. they own man. <3 all those years that's what i was missing. I think munchi will agree with me, if you going to do something bro, do it 100% right or not at all... Im just throwing in my .02 cents, however im here to help you find a hot wire so you can tap into.. Meaning its still your choice we'll try to assist you anyway we can...

2 Da Max,

If you have a aftermarket H/U then wire the remote to the remote out (blue wire) on the H/U. If you are using the factory H/U the audio fuse is just fine. I had mine set up the same exact way with no problems. the audio fuse is factory H/U's power wire. So it's ok to hook it into audio fuse.
