Theres no "authorized" dealers for Viper online. Secondly if bought online or 'over-the-counter' theres no warranty either. States it right on the box itself or call DEI.
Differences would include..with the 791 a new Blue remote with holster, blue LED,XRCS relay sattelite, additional channe. The newer remote was the biggest benefit as the older ones tended to fail quite often and I had to warranty them regularly.

Absolutly no warranty or DEI support by alarms sold online and installed by a consumer, or any non DEI certfied/authorized installer

You would also typically pay about $200+ to have it installed. Leaving you somewhere around $350 for everything once all is said and done. Of course the warranty part would be the killer. I can see you wanting to save money, as we all do. But at what expense in the long run?
As for getting an alarm is a two-way definately needed/wanted? PM Im sure I can help you out a bit. I would rather do the it, then see you pay in both headaches and money later. Especially with that unit. Once the remote dies (if it does) then your spending even more money for a new one.

Yeah I was talking about if just some regular person came into your shop with no parts or anything and said install a 790/791 on my car (say a 5th gen Maxima including putting the key in the dash for the remote start and everything) how much would you charge for the entire deal, parts and install.

hmmm, I think i paid a little more than that for my 790, I gotta go dig up the receipt to be sure. I also had a backup battery and the tilt sensor installed too which i think was around 100 extra.... I know the place I go to is a little higher than the other shops around here, but they have the best rep and aren't shady like the other shops.... Oh well, thanks for the info.
